| (2008-12-10) It's been close to a year since I've touched this site! Wow, I can't believe that it's been close to a year since I've touched my Xanga! I'm going to reserve this section to really start updating.
| | |
| This is going to be another long update, folks! First off, Happy New Year, everyone!
It's the year of the mouse (marked the beginning animal of the Chinese zodiac). So what's going on with this year?
We've already begun this year with huge losses with the market! Goldman Sachs writes that we're heading into a recession.
Will the mouse be kind on us and save us from a recession? I'm hoping the Fed will bail us out again, or at least lift the markets as it happened last year after July/August 2007.
I'll start my series of LONG UPDATES with the most recent events...
Winter Break Highlights: -Spending time with family/relatives together is always heart-warming. When I was younger, I'd always be excited to receive presents, always in anticipation of what I'd be getting! Now I'm eagerly happy to see my relatives' expressions as they open their gifts that I prepared for them. I guess it's all a sign of getting older. It was classic years ago when I saw Darrick's HUGE HAPPY SMILE when he opened his XBox present that I got for him! I remember he couldn't stop drooling.
Now I don't care for gifts; I just want money. I want money to pay my Christmas bills; I want money to make more money in the market! -Going to Nor Cal and spending time with Baby's family / relatives, as well as snowboarding in Sierra (Lake Tahoe)
Winter Break in Nor Cal:
(2007-12-28) Baby's aunt's place:
 Lots of sparkling cider

Playin' "Dodge City" - a game similar to Mafia, but a lot more interesting!

(2007-12-29) Snowboarding @ Sierra (Lake Tahoe):
 About to take off
Little Minion 2, Me, Little Minion 1
Kristi's a lot more advanced than Baby and me
 Baby
 Yeah, I'm awesome!
Can you believe that Baby and I took 1.5 hours to go down the Sugar & Spice Trail??? It's the beginner trail, and we took that long to complete it! OMG we suck!
We were done for the day as soon as we got to the bottom!
(2007-12-31) New Year's Eve:
Dinner @ Village Bistro in Valley Fair
 Desserts
It was a very nice vacation in Nor Cal. Great, back to the real world...WORK.
(2007-12-27) EFC Reunion: It's not often that we have opportunities like these, to have many of our folks who used to go to EFC to come together and see each other again.
The best part about it was seeing Roy and his family, and observing how people have changed (or not changed). If you don't know, Roy used to be my pastor at EFC ever since I was in 1st grade.
One particular sharing that I still laugh at, was when Jesse recalled one time when we had a retreat, during the van accident, when the van rolled over, and Jason would be frantically climbing over the women and children (while kicking them in the faces), screaming, "Oh my gawd, it's gonna blow!"
Roy & Brooke, Me, Patty, Patty's husband, George, Benjamin, Bethany, Esther

(2007-12-27) Lunch @ BCD Tofu House With Old Fogies: Kevin was in town, all the way from Michigan!
Erin, Erin, Leah, Jenny, Kevin, and I all met up at BCD Tofu House in the valley, and ate and caught up on old times!
I learned that Kevin is Mr. Expert Guitar Hero, and plays Quake III at work in lan-fest battles! It was nice getting to know what everyone was up to, and what they do in their current occupations.
 Leah, Jenny, Kevin
 Erin, Erin, Me
(2007-12-26) Sol's Birthday Dinner @ Charcoal Grill: Happy Birthday Buddy!!!
 ROAR, Sol's ready to eat!
 Mr. Soldier Boy: Brian
I was really impressed, and proud of Brian. He really seems to have his priorities straight now, and he's FIT! He told me he lost about 25-30 pounds from being in the army.
 Happy Sol
 Me, NormieNorm (Norman)
Norman and I talked about our investing experiences for the year. He likes to know what people actually "do" in their occupations.
 John T, Sol, Joe
 Thomas, Tom, Hannah, Jeanne
(2007-10-27) Preparing for Halloween: Look at the two huge pumpkins fetched from my backyard!
Using Xiang Xiang to show you how big the pumpkins are
(2007-10-25) APPN-Azusa Kick-Off @ Lindley-Scott: Some of the reasons for change and inclusion, especially in the aerospace industry, is to allow employees to "bring one's whole-self to work" - to not be afraid of sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, etc.
As chairperson for APPN (Asian Pacific Professional Network) at our campus in Woodland Hills, I have witnessed first-hand, just how this change and inclusion within our culture is lifting spirits a lot higher, and creating higher morale in the industry.
I believe that community involvement does not end at UCLA. It is important to be involved, and companies want to see this in prospective, aspiring leaders. Being involved with the company, and taking part in as many activities as possible, allows one to really grow in his/her professional development.
My long-term goal is to become the best leader possible.
Several co-workers and I attended the APPN kickoff event at Azusa:
